HE Robyn Mudie, Australian High Commissioner, attends official inauguration of Swinburne Campus in Sri Lanka
Her Excellency Robyn Mudie, Australian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, attended the official inauguration of Swinburne Campus in Sri Lanka, which was inaugurated by Hon S B Dissanayake, Minister of Higher Education on 21 October. The inauguration was also attended by several government officials and delegates from Swinburne University of Technology, Australia and key education sector stakeholders.
The collaboration between Nawaloka College of Higher Studies, Sri Lanka and Swinburne College, Australia will provide a study opportunity for aspiring students of Sri Lanka to start their Foundation programs leading up to a Diploma in IT, Business and Engineering in Sri Lanka and complete their bachelor degree at Swinburne University of Technology, Australia.
Speaking at the inauguration, Minister Dissanayake stated that global education is of paramount importance. He said that institutions like Swinburne University would bring quality education to Sri Lanka. Such collaborations have paved the way for world-class pathway programs being offered for the first time in Sri Lanka.
High Commissioner Mudie emphasised the high priority placed by the Australian Government on building strong education links between Australia and Sri Lanka. She noted that the establishment of the joint campus marked a significant step forward for the two countries in our education cooperation. The establishment of Swinburne Campus will contribute towards the Sri Lankan Government’s long-term goal of attracting students from elsewhere in the region in line with its vision of Sri Lanka as an education hub.
